Through Our Eyes Heritage Project

Capturing the history of our schools and preserving them for generations to come, through the eyes of the children themselves.

The Through Our Eyes Heritage Project, supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, was led by end2end TV CIC in partnership with Bexley Archives, Bexley Music and Hall Place & Gardens.

Running from May 2023 to December 2024, it involved four local schools where students created documentaries about their schools' histories, interviewing alumni and exploring the impact of entrance exams since WWII.

The legacy films produced were displayed as an interactive exhibition at The Stables Gallery in Hall Place & Gardens from 17th February to 18th March 2024. They were then exhibited in Bexley Archives new exhibition space from 15th May, before being officially donated to them via a dedicated website on 5th December.

This project combined heritage and innovation, giving young people the chance to discover and create history.

Event Filming

Hurstmere's 75th Jubilee

Capturing a rich history through the eyes of the pupils. Sit back and be amazed!

Hurstmere School in Sidcup held a very special celebration event in July, marking 75 years of it's rich history. Pupils led the whole event for a very special audience of parents, staff, senior leaders and members of the The Howard Academy Trust, which Hurstmere will be officially joining in September. Not only did they explain the auspicious Through Our Eyes Heritage Project, they introduced the legacy films they had created about the rich history of Hurstmere School since 1949.

The evening included pupils interviewing alumni on stage and fantastic music from Studio-Fix, including the original song created by the pupils themselves. Guest speakers included Aardman Animations and Walt Disney storyboard artist, Jay Clarke, who had also given a dedicated workshop for pupils earlier in the day; and Mark Reid spoke. Former Head of Education with the British Film Institute, now a senior lecturer for UCL spoke too.

As part of this commission, end2end TV were asked to produce a second film about Hurstmere's history with the pupils. This was a deep dive into more archive footage and interviews with new alumni, as well as staff.

The whole project was a real joy and the essence of Hurstmere's history was evident to see - through the stories collected and the warm and generous energy of those who participated. It really was an exceptional way to celebrate Hurstmere's 75th Jubilee through the eyes of young people and an honour to be trusted to manage this unique event. In the words of one VIP, 'It was spectacular!'

A wonderful way to mark an important point in history. You can read more about this event here: https://www.end2endtv.co.uk/post/hurstmere-s-75th-jubilee

Old Bexley News

The Old Bexley News Crew is an exciting initiative led by talented pupils from Years 5 and 6, who collaborate with teachers to produce engaging news content for the school community.

Students apply to join the Crew at the start of the academic year and take on diverse roles, including reporting, filming, scriptwriting, and photography. Using professional broadcast TV equipment, they create high-quality news segments while learning skills such as camera operation, sound recording, and directing.

The Crew’s journey began with the "Old Bexley Babble," their first publication in December 2021, which later evolved into a video news programme, broadcast in March 2023.

Their innovative approach was recognized in June 2023 when they won the "Innovative News Project Award" at the First News School Newspaper of the Year Awards, celebrated for its outstanding journalism and creative flair.

Live Streaming

British Film Institute

Our e2e crew were commissioned by the British Film Institute (BFI)'s former Head of Education Mark Reid to film the LATE conference at the National Theatre 3.

We arrived early to set up in National Theatre 3; using three professional HD Cameras and sound, linked to our Atem vision mixer. This was connected to Vision Control in a nearby space where the multi-cam stream was directed and overseen.

Our e2e Crew have been trained in a green screen studio and control room. They have completed the content for their Bronze Arts Award by helping to support learning at our TV Production Club this term and more recently have had various chances to take their skills out on location, to film events in the community.

Our team are used to working across two locations, using talkback to communicate. Our Directors and Production Assistant kept the stream looking professional, making sure the cuts were relevant and being the 'eyes' for our camera operators so they knew when their camera was live. They worked seamlessly with our vision mixers to produce a high quality multi camera stream.

Thank you to the London Association for the Teaching of English and the British Film Institute for this amazing opportunity. Together we shared a vision and achieved something new. We couldn't be prouder of our team. They may be young, but they are technically brilliant and together are showing what teamwork is all about.

Tour de Bexley Charity Bike Ride Live Stream

end2end TV was invited to live stream the Tour de Bexley charity bike ride, organized by Dave and Carrie Simpson, to raise funds for Bexley SNAP and Bexley Moorings Project.

Dave & Carrie Simpson are the event organisers for the Brighton to Bexleyheath charity bike ride, Tour de Bexley. Together with Lee from the Lord Hill Pub they have created their own version of the famous bike ride in order to raise money for two local charities; Bexley SNAP & the Bexley Moorings Project.

end2end TV's involvement started after meeting Dave & Carrie who were interested in us live streaming the day. We jumped at the chance to support such a fabulous fundraising event and suggested adding short videos of the event organisers, riders and supporters to the stream. We took two of our crew to the Lord Hill on Saturday 23rd April to film interviews - and wow! What a fabulous job they did. We even had the fantastic opportunity to let Sophie be our sound operator for one of the interviews! You can watch Sophie's interview below.

On the day, we had three crews working simultaneously, which was a first for us. Crew 1 kicked off with an early 6am shift, providing great energy all the way to Brighton. They handled the live stream at the first stop in Newick, then continued covering the second half with their parents. Crew 2 joined at lunch, directing a live stream from multiple camera locations and interviewing riders. Remarkably, they were only 11-12 years old! Meanwhile, Crew 3 was at the finish line in Bexleyheath, capturing early interviews for the stream. As the day went on, all crews reconnected to film the riders crossing the line and the celebration. The event was filled with community spirit, and we're proud to have been part of it. The fundraising for two local charities was a huge success!
